Nippon Ham Fighters Pre-season Game in Nago (北海道日本ハムファイターズ: オープン戦 - 名護)

Every spring, the pro baseball teams descend to Okinawa for spring training. Nago, the most northern city in Okinawa, hosts the Nippon Ham Fighters. The Fighters picked up Saitoh Yuki, a right handed pitcher from Waseda University, and he is extremely popular with the fans. On Saturday, Feb 26th, we went to their last game with Tim and Ayu Newell and their boys, Masaki and Tomoki. Saitoh Yuki, a.k.a. "Yu-Chan", only pitched one inning, but the Fighters came out on top 9-8 over last year's champions, the Chiba Lotte Marines.

今年も沖縄のあらゆるところでプロ野球の春季キャンプが行われています。今年は名護でトレーニングをしている北海道日本ハムファイターズのオープン戦を名護に住んでいるティムとあゆ、そしてマサキとトモキと一緒に見てきました。今回は何といっても名護はドラフト一位で日ハムに入った「斉藤祐樹フィバー」で祐ちゃん目当てのファンが多かったようです。しかし、残念にも1イニングしか投げず直ぐ下がってしまい、祐ちゃんが交代すると帰るお客さんも多くビックリした。結局日ハムが接戦の末、9-8で去年、日本一だったロッテマリーンズに勝ちました。
