The Valenzuelas (ヴェレンズエラ・ファミリー)

While in Atlanta we lodged with Luis and Angela Valenzuela. Angela and Yumi are good friends from their college days, and Angela was Yumi's Matron of Honor. Their kids are really cool. It was a good time hanging out with the V-family.

Downtown Atlanta (アトランタのダウンタウン)

Here a few pictures that we took in our time around downtown Atlanta on New Year's Eve. We ate dinner at a Cuban restaurant with Luis and Angela. It was really tasty. The Chik Fil-A Bowl was held in the ATL on New Year's, and we saw some of the Va Tech and Tennessee fans en route to the Georgia Dome.

The World of Coca-Cola

We also went to the World of Coca-Cola in Downtown Atlanta. As a college student, Yumi worked there as a tour guide/interpreter for Japanese tourists. They closed early, so we were not able to see who now runs the Japanese tour.

Georgia State University (ジョージア州立大学)

On New Year's Eve we headed out to downtown Atlanta with Luis and Angela to check out a few sites. We took a short walk around part of the Georgia State campus, where Angela and Yumi studied together. Because of the holiday there wasn't anyone around the campus, but it was a short walk down memory lane for the girls.

Atlanta Here We Come!

This building was used as the Olympic Village during the 1996 Summer Olympics. Then it was turned into a Georgia State Univ. dorm called "The Village." But it now belongs to Georgia Tech.

The Varsity - This restaurant chain is the largest drive-in fast food restaurant in the world.

As some of you know, Yumi lived in Atlanta while she was in college. This is where she became a Christian and has many fond memories. We made a quick trip to Atlanta, and Chuck met some of Yumi's close friends.

With Uncle Richard (リチャードおじさんと)

Most of the Robbs came to my parents' on Dec 26th, but Uncle Richard came up from Florida a few days later. It was a good time to catch up with him.

Old Savannah Tours (サバンナ・ツアーズ)

Here's our trolley

We figured the best way to see the city was by of a tour bus. Our tour guide had a great sense of humor and really made the trip worthwhile. It was a quick overview of the city's colorful history, but it was a great experience.

Downtown Savannah (サバンナのダウンタウン)

Do you remember Paula Dean? This is where it all began.

Girl Scouts started here

Savannah is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest cities around. The downtown area is a planned city that has over 20 city squares. Most of the squares feature either a fountain, statue, or some sort of memorial commemorating Savannah's history. Many of the homes and buildings in the historic district have been restored by Savannah College of Art and Design.

Jeremy and the Family

Here's Jeremy and his family. We met them at the one Sunday that we spent in Savannah. Their son was adopted from Ukraine and their daughter from China. God has called them overseas to serve as missionaries in Africa with Far Reaching Ministries. Praise the Lord for more workers. We'll be praying for you guys.

CC Savannah (カルバリーチャペル・サバンナ)

Here's us at Calvary Chapel Savannah. Pastor Dan was gracious to let me get up and speak for 5 minutes about what we're doing in Okinawa. It was a good time catching up with some and meeting new folks.
