Outreach with "Treasure Hunt" (トレジャーハントとアウトリーチ)

We invited a Christian band named "Treasure Hunt" to come play at a Friday night outreach. Yoshua Higa preached the gospel message. We also had some games and lots of snacks. Several of our friends from the nearby Japanese university came out.

Chuck's Japanese Teacher (チャックの日本語の先生)

It's Trevor. My Japanese teacher. Trevor has now moved to the Japanese island of Sapporo -- way far north -- to help with a church plant. Please pray for him.

Heading back to Okinawa (沖縄へ)

Back to Okinawa! It is good to get back to where God has called you!

Brief Visit to CC Kamakura

Before traveling back to Okinawa, we had time to attend Sunday morning service at CC Kamakura. It was good to see old friends. Unfortunately, our flight departed in the afternoon, so we had to rush out without spending a long time.

Flying Kites at Shonan Beach

It is customary to fly kites on New Year's Day in Japan. Since the whole family was not together on the 1st, we decided to postpone the kite (tako) flying til later. We went to nearby Shonan Beach in hopes of wind, but there wasn't much. Reika and Sae, our nieces, had a blast.

New Year's Dinner with Yumi's Family

Here are a few pictures of the New Year's dinner with Yumi's family. On our way back from the States to Okinawa, we stopped at Yumi's parents house for a few days. Yumi's brothers Hide and Mako and their wives (and of course our neices) all joined us for a late-New Year's dinner. Reika and Sae (Hide's two daughters) were the entertainment.

Korea Reunion!

As many of you know, Chuck lived in Korea for 2 years. While he was there, he attended Calvary Chapel Cheonan and served there. We also saw some folks from Korea. Victor and the family、Pastor Mike, and Helen Hong were also there. It was great to hear how things are going in Korea. May the Lord bless the fellowship in Cheonan.

Vajta Reunion!

Brett and Gloria serving in Nigeria

Alison (Center), serving at the Castle/CC Spittal in Austria with her husband
Tracy (Right), serving at CC Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Jake and Tecla Wilmoth, heading out to New Zealand to help at CCBC NZ

Brandon from CC Stone Mountain (GA) and Rose from Santa Barbara

Joy and Judah from Vajta

Carrie (Right) - a fellow intern from CCBC Europe

Costin and Liz are now serving the Lord in Mississippi,
eventually heading out to Costin's home, Romania

Andrew & Miriam serving at CCBC Siegen, Germany

Chelsea (Center) and Alisa (Right) - fellow interns from Vajta

Jake and Jamie (Middle); Jamie is pastoring CC Brasov, Romania

Ah! These are some of Yumi's friends from Calvary Chapel Bible College in Vajta, Hungary. Many of them are now missionaries in various places around the globe. And some are back in the States for now, serving the Lord there. There was a BBQ for past and present Vajta residents. Unfortunately, we had to take off to head back to Corona, but it was good to catch up.

Okinawa Reunion!

There quite a few people who are either currently in Okinawa or were at one point. It's always interesting to see where the Lord sends people at various stages in their life, and it is a blessing of being at the Bible College.

CC Missions Conference (CC

The Missions Conference was a blast: lots of old friends, good teaching, and a relaxing time in Southern California. The Amargos graciously allowed us to stay with them in nearby Temecula and commuted everyday to the sessions.

What we don't have in Japan 2 (日本にないもの2)

So this is the second in a series of posts of "what we don't have in Japan." When we were in America we made some curry rice. While we were shopping we found this: medium grain rice. Nope, don't have that in Japan.

America's Best Coffee at Waffle House

We didn't make time to breakfast at Waffle House, but we swung by for a cup of America's Best Coffee on I-16, enroute Savannah. The cup is camoflouged -- in case you want to take your joe with you on a hunting trip. It also has tips for hunters on the back of the cup. Thanks, Waffle House.

Colleen and John (コリーン&ジョン)

Before traveling back to Savannah, we met up with Colleen and John for breakfast at the Flying Biscuit. When Yumi first arrived in America, she stayed with Colleen. Colleen and her husband, Ed (who went to be with the Lord 4 years ago) were a great Christian example for her. They will always have a special place in Yumi's life. Colleen recently re-married, and she and her husband, John treated us to a really good breakfast.
