Flying Kites at Shonan Beach (湘南海岸で凧を上げました)

It is customary to fly kites on New Year's Day in Japan. Since the whole family was not together on the 1st, we decided to postpone the kite (tako) flying til later. We went to nearby Shonan Beach in hopes of wind, but there wasn't much. Reika and Sae, our nieces, had a blast.

今年も姪っ子たちと家族でお正月に凧を揚げてきました。今年は私たちはアメリカへ行っていたので少し遅くなってしまったけれど、私たち家族には毎年恒例の凧揚げをしに近くの湘南海岸まで行ってきました。しかし、その日は残念ながら風があまり吹いてなくなかなか凧を揚がらず大変でした（＾＾；それでも姪っ子たちは砂で遊んだりして楽しかったようです。
