Solar Eclipse (皆既日食)

Here is a homemade eclipse viewer that Ira Amargo put together. 

Notice the light on the white sheet of paper? That is the sliver of the sun peeking out behind the moon.

教会のアイラさんが皆既日食を見るために箱でお手製の観測機を作ってくれました。

白い紙の上の光が見えますが、月の後ろから少し現われてきているのが太陽です。 

July 22 was a special day in Japan. Actually, we looked forward the day for 46 years!! A solar eclipse took place yesterday!! Yet in spite of high expectations, the weather did not cooperate in Tokyo. But as for us in Okinawa, we had perfect weather and got to see it! Here are some pictures from today and link to a video. 7/22は待ちに待った皆既日食の日でした。日本では46年振りに見られる皆既日食とあって期待が大きかったようですが、東京の方は天気が朝から悪く、残念ながら良く見れなかったとのことでした。しかし、感謝なことにここ沖縄では天気にも恵まれ、見ることが出来ました！NHKのリンクと写真を何枚か載せます。
