This might be an old news to many of you who are in the States. But yesterday, we went to see a special viewing of "Soul Surfer" at the movie theater in Ishinomaki. It is coming out tomorrow here. While Keegan was still here, we all applied for free tickets, and Keegan won. But the special viewing for free ticket-holders was after Keegan left for Oki, so he graciously gave us his. Thanks! We both really enjoyed it and recommend the movie.
It is based on the true story of up-and-coming female surfer Bethany Hamilton's shark attack and recovery. Though she struggles with why the attack happened, she has faith in God's plan and went on to become a talented surfer and is a great witness for Christ.
We also enjoyed the movie, because the leading actress' last name is Robb!
アメリカではもう既にDVDになっている映画ですが、「ソウル・サーファー」が6/9から日本で公開されます。それに先立って、私たちは昨日、石巻で行われたこの映画の試写会に行ってきました。実はこの試写会のチケットはキーゲンが当てたものだったのですが、彼が沖縄へ帰ってからのものだったので私たちがもらいました。キーゲンありがとう！前に一度見たことがあるのですが、今回もとても感動しました！みなさんも是非見て下さい。お勧めです！
この映画は13歳の天才サーファー、ベサニー・ハミルトンがある日サメに片腕を奪われてしまい、その後、彼女がどのようにしてそのハンデを乗り越えていったかという実話に基づいたお話です。ベサニーはなぜこのような事が自分の身に起きたのか悩み苦しみながらも、クリスチャンである彼女はこれも全て神さまの計画のうちで、彼女は神を信じ続け、片腕がないハンデを乗り越えてプロサーファーになり、キリストを証しする者となりました。
私たちがこの映画が好きなもう一つの理由はベサニー・ハミルトン役の女優の名前がロブ（アナソフィア・ロブ）だからです！
