Gekko "Thank You" (月光 "ありがとう")

Yumi and I went for a walk in Tsukihama and from a distance, we saw an intriguing flag hoisted above one of the fishing boats.  As it turns out, the Gekko Group (local seaweed co-op) was celebrating the launch of a new boat.  They also had this flag (see above) made to express gratitude for all the volunteers who helped their project.  Thankfully, we -- as well as numerous visiting missions teams -- got to play a small part in helping our neighbors.

先日私たちの住む月浜を散歩していると、海の方で人だかりがあり、行ってみるとそこで海苔養殖業の生産再開を目指している「月光」プロジェクトの船の浸水式をしていました。新しい月光の旗を立てて、その旗にはこのプロジェクトをサポートして下さったボランティアの方々にも感謝の気持ちを込める言葉が入っていました。私たちもいくつかもミッションチームと一緒にその活動に参加出来きたことを嬉しく思います。
