Calvary Chapel Savannah (カルバリーチャペル・サバンナ)

While we were in Savannah, we were given the opportunity to share about our ministry at Calvary Chapel Savannah.  We always enjoy our time of fellowship at the church.  The bottom picture is a collection of various photos taken throughout the years.

Savannah, GA is my (Chuck's) hometown and is on the coast of SE Georgia.  It's a nice place, and tourists flock here in the spring and summer.   We stayed with my parents for a little over a week on Wilmington Island.  No ferry needed; there is a bridge that takes you there.

Lady and Sons (レディース&サンズ)

Some of you might be familiar with the celebrity chef Paula Dean.  She is originally from Savannah and her restaurant has been downtown for a while.  Thankfully, Luis braved the long lines for a reservation, so we were able to eat chez Lady and Sons.  The food was delicious: a buffet of typical Southern cookin.'  We all enjoyed the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and fried cornbread.  Thanks again to Luis for the waiting in line for us.

John Wesley (ジョン・ウェスレー)

While Luis, Angela, and Carmen were in town we visited the statue of Wesley in Reynolds Square in Savannah.  John Wesley was the founder of Methodism and lived in Savannah for a brief period of time in 1836 - 1837 and then returned to England.

Luis, Angela, Carmen, and Naomi

After service at CC Savannah, we spent the rest of the day with our good friends Angela and Luis, their baby Carmen, and Naomi. Angela and Luis drove down from Atlanta; Naomi came from Greenville, SC. Angela, Naomi, and Yumi were all Georgia State Panthers and were part of Campus Crusade for Christ. After a short drive around historic Savannah in the snow (in Savannah!) we ate dinner at Olympia Cafe, a Greek restaurant on River Street. We had a good time catching up. Thanks for all the cool stories Luis!

Day 4: CC Savannah (4日目: CCサバンナ)

On Sunday morning, we visited Calvary Chapel Savannah, and Chuck shared for a few minutes about the church and Bible college in Okinawa. After service we caught up with a few families and met some new folks. Thanks for having us CC Savannah. We really felt the love of Christ there.

Day 3: Christmas Lunch (3

On Christmas day, Mama Robb prepared a great turkey and side dishes and Chuck's uncle and aunt provided the ham. It was a feast! It was good to be with family.

Day 2: Christmas Eve Service (2

On Christmas Eve, we joined Chuck's parents at their church: St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Christmas Eve service. The sanctuary and traditional hymns were beautiful. Here is a picture of us in front of a gigantic Christmas tree.

Day 1: Savannah (1

On our first day in Savannah (12/23) we lunched with Chuck's dad and then dinnered with the rest of the Robbs. In between, we looked around downtown Savannah on a beautiful afternoon. Last minute Christmas shopping!

We figured the best way to see the city was by of a tour bus. Our tour guide had a great sense of humor and really made the trip worthwhile. It was a quick overview of the city's colorful history, but it was a great experience.

Downtown Savannah (サバンナのダウンタウン)

Do you remember Paula Dean? This is where it all began.

Girl Scouts started here

Savannah is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest cities around. The downtown area is a planned city that has over 20 city squares. Most of the squares feature either a fountain, statue, or some sort of memorial commemorating Savannah's history. Many of the homes and buildings in the historic district have been restored by Savannah College of Art and Design.
