Craft, Hiragana & Christmas Lights (クラフト、ひらがな＆クリスマスイルミネーション）

In lieu of our regular Bible study at the Pallman's we had a craft fellowship. Afterwards we played with Emi's educational toys. This toy was a lot of fun. It teaches kids hiragana. After we reviewed our hiragana, Dan took us to a nearby home that really gets into the Christmas decorations.

この日はポールマン家で通常のバイブルスタディーの代わりに、子供たちと折り紙でクリスマスのクラフトをしました。その後にエミちゃんのひらがなの教材でも遊び、帰りがけに近くのクリスマスイルミネーションを見てきました。

"True Christmas" (本当のクリスマス)

Hakugaijin headlined a show at a nearby live house in a show named "True Christmas." It was a great outreach, because both Christian and secular bands were on the bill. Simon Watanabe gave a great Christmas message.

12/19に行われた"True Christmas" （本当のクリスマス）というイベントにハクガイジンが出演しました。クリスチャンが主催したイベントにクリスチャンのバンドと一般のバンドが一緒に出演する形でしたが、良いアウトリーチになりました。テーンチャレンジのワタナベサイモン君が本当のクリスマスとは何かというメッセージをしました。このようなイベントに今後ももっと参加出来るようにお祈りください。

W2 in Nago (W2を名護で行いました)

Pastor Tim and his family moved to Nago this summer to start a church. Nago is the northernmost city in Okinawa. On December 20th, we had a Christmas party/outreach at his house. We didn't hold our Sunday night service (W2) in Ginowan. The turnout was awesome: somewhere around 50 people were there. Many people made the 1.5 hr drive up from Ginowan on a Sunday evening. On top of that, many non-Christians came. One of them got saved that night! It was a evening full of eating, games, a Christmas message, and plenty of music. What a rockin' party!

今年の夏、ティム牧師とあゆが名護へ開拓伝道をするために引っ越したことは何度かこのブログでも書きましたが、12/20は宜野湾でのW2（日曜日の夕礼拝）の代わりに、名護のティム牧師の家でクリスマスパーティーも兼ねて行いました。50人以上の人たちが集まり、救われる魂も起こされました！感謝です。食事をしたり、ゲーム、ティム牧師のクリスマスのメッセージ、音楽があったりととても祝福されました。

Dinners at Our Apartment (食事会)

After the Bible College semester ended, we hosted many of the Bible College students, interns, friends, as well as Pastor Tom and his wife, Joanna, for dinner. Our place isn't big enough to have everyone over at the same time, so we had about 5-6 friends at a time. It was a lot of fun to eat and play games together.

バイブルカレッジの学期が終了し、学生たちが帰国する前に、学生をはじめ、インターン、教会の友人たち、トム牧師と牧師夫人のジョアンナを我が家に招待して食事会をしました。私たちのアパートは全員が入れるような広さはないので、5-6人のグループに分かれて来てもらいました。食事の後にゲームをしたりして楽しい時間を過ごしました。

CCG Christmas Party (CC宜野湾クリスマスパーティー)

On December 11th, we held a Christmas party for the MELT (My English Lunch Time) students and for the church. After feasting on stew, we played a lively game of ASAP (a sort of modified version of Scattergories) and had a gift exchange. In the photo above, Ibuki is sporting his new Santa Claus outfit. We finished off the evening watching the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. It was a lot of fun.

12月11日に、教会でMELTの学生を招待してクリスマスパーティーを行いました。みんなでシチューを食べた後、ASAPというゲームとプレゼント交換をしました。写真を見てもらえれば分かるように、イブキくんはサンタのスーツが当たりました。おめでとう！（嬉しいのかどうか分かりませんが。。。）そして最後にチャリーブラウンのクリスマスをビデオを一緒に見てパーティーを終えました。

November Newsletter (11月ニュースレター)

We sent our November newsletter a few weeks ago. We totally forgot to post it here. Hope those of you who received it were blessed by it.

11月のニュースレターを数週間前に送ったのですがブログでUpするのを忘れてました。ニュースレターを通して祝福がありますように。

"Futenma Decision" (普天間基地問題）

"Futenma decision" - As you might have heard, this has been one of the top stories on news lately here in Japan. "Should the Futenma Marine Corps Air Station be relocated to the northern Okinawa or outside of Okinawa? Or to Guam?" The prefecture has long demanded the Futenma base be transferred from Okinawa. Now that there is a new Prime Minister in office, this issue has come up again. It has been discussed quite a bit between the governments of Japan and the U.S. As you can see from the picture, the Futenma base is located in the middle of Ginowan City -- the city where we live. The decision of relocating this base has been difficult for both the city and for the prefecture.

今ニュースで何かと話題になっている「普天間基地問題」ですが、この普天間基地は私たちが住んでいる宜野湾市にあります。一枚目の写真を見てもらえれば良く分かりますが、基地を真ん中に宜野湾市の市民がその周りに住んでいます。「普天間基地」の問題は市民にも県民にも難しいもので、沖縄の歴史や産業を考えると簡単に解決するものではないようです。二国間での話し合いがどうなるのか興味深いところです。

Emi & Yoshua (絵美ちゃんとヨシュアくん）

This fall semester we had one full-time Japanese student from Tokyo, Emi. Emi and Yoshua (a local Okinawan) both took Pastor Tom's Revelation class (I (Yumi) translated). They did really well, and I really enjoyed reading their homework and their personal applications for the class. They are now praying about returning next semester and if the Lord wills, they will be taking a full-load. As we begin the Japanese side of the Bible College next semester, we are excited about what the Lord will do. It's important to train the nationals to take the Word of God to their nation.

2 Timothy 2:2 - "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

今学期、日本人の学生で絵美ちゃんが東京からフルタイムで来ていました。絵美ちゃんと地元出身のヨシュアくんはトム牧師の日本語通訳が入った黙示録のクラスを取り、由美が彼らの宿題を読んだりテストの採点をしました。彼らのクラスを通して学んだ適用部分を読んでとても励まされました。難しいクラスだったと思いますが、お疲れ様でした！来学期も2人は戻ってくる方向で祈っていて、主の御心ならば2人ともフルタイムで授業を取る予定です。また、来学期から日本語のバイブルカレッジを始めるにあたって、主が彼らの内で、そして彼らを通して主がなされることを期待しつつ、日本人である彼らが日本へみことばを持っていけるようにお祈り下さい。

2テモテ2:2 - 「多くの証人の前で私から聞いたことを、他の人にも教える力のある忠実な人たちのゆだねなさい。」

Bible College Graduation (バイブルカレッジ卒業式)

Four students graduated this semester, and we had a graduation ceremony for them in lieu of our Wednesday evening service. Yumi helped translate for Pastor Tom as he MC'd the ceremony. Each student shared from the Word and what the Lord has been teaching them over the past 2 years. Most of the students are moving on to different places, but I'm sure we'll get to see them sooner or later.

今学期は4人の学生がバイブルカレッジから卒業しました。12/2には水曜日の礼拝の代わりに、トム牧師の司会のもと卒業式が行われました。それぞれの卒業生が聖書のことばを交えてこの2年間で学んだことを分かち合いました。卒業生の多くはこの後、それぞれの道へと進んでいきますが、また近いうちに会えること楽しみしています。

Apologetics Class (弁証論のクラス）

Whew! The Apologetics Class is finally over. Here's a picture we took just before the students took their final exam. Look! They're all smiling. I guess that's a good sign. It was a great time teaching. Praise God for a great group of students.
