Here's a picture of me at the Taiwan Airport. We had a short layover before flying to Hong Kong. Free WiFi was great. On to Hong Kong to spend the night.

Chuck and Gang Head out to Israel (チャック一行、イスラエルへ)

Tonight Pastor Tom, Chuck, Rob, Joe Tipton, and Takako began their journey to Israel. They first flew out to Taipei and then to Hong Kong (spend the night in Hong Kong). The next day they will fly to Seoul, Korea and spend another night there. Then finally they will hop on a flight straight to Israel. As you can imagine, it will be a long journey to Israel. Please pray for their safety and divine appointments for them as they continue their trip.

今夜、トム牧師、チャック、ロブ、ジョーと孝子さんがイスラエルへと出発しました。先ず、沖縄から台北へ飛び、そこで乗り換えをして今夜は香港で一泊します。次の日にソウルへ飛び、そこで一泊した後、次の日にイスラエルへ直行便で向かいます。長い旅になりますが、どうか行く道が守られ、主にある多くの出会いがあるようにお祈り下さい。

Sending Takako-san out to Israel (孝子さんをイスラエルへ送り出しました)

On June 23rd during our Wednesday service, we prayed for Takako and sent her out as our missionary to Israel. She has a long history with Calvary Chapel here in Okinawa. We will definitely miss her, but we are happy and encouraged that she is obeying and doing what the Lord is asking her to do.

6/23の水曜日の礼拝で孝子さんのために祈りました。孝子さんはこれから私たちの宣教師としてイスラエルへ送られます。ここ沖縄での孝子さんのカルバリーチャペルとのつながりは長く、教会で会えなくなるのは寂しくなるけれど、孝子さんが主が言われることに従う姿を見て励まされています。

FC Ryukyu (FC琉球)

Yumi scored some free tickets to see FC Ryukyu -- our local professional soccer team. The coach of FC Ryukyu is a French guy who used to coach the Japan World Cup team. FC Ryukyu beat Nagasaki in a tough but entertaining match. After the match I got to meet Ryugin Mabuya -- a local super hero. It was the biggest day of my life.

由美が会社からＦＣ琉球の無料チケットをもらってきたので、試合を見に行ってきました。あのトルシエが監督しているチームということもあり、一度は見てみたかったので楽しみにして行ったのが、本人のトルシエはＷ杯の解説などで忙しいのか、いませんでした。。。試合も１－０でＦＣ琉球が長崎に勝ち、楽しいゲームでした。試合後にはチャックが沖縄の琉神マブヤーに会うことが出来ました（＾＾）ｖ

Yumi's Parents Came to Visit (由美の両親が遊びに来ました)

Yumi's parents traveled to Okinawa to visit us over the last weekend in May. We took them to the Ocean Expo Park in Nago (northern part of Okinawa). Since Pastor Tom was in the States, I (Chuck) got to teach at Sunday morning service, and Yumi translated. Yumi's parents helped out around the apartment. It was good to have them visit.

由美の両親が沖縄に遊びに来ました。残念ながら、滞在期間中、梅雨の時期でもあり、雨ばかりでした。それでも、美ら海水族館などへ行くことが出来、楽しい時間が持てました。また、その週の日曜日はトム牧師がアメリカへ行っていて留守だったので、チャックが日曜日の礼拝のメッセージをし、由美が通訳をしました。

Okinawa says "No more base!" (県内に基地はいらない！)

The Futenma Air Station continues to be a hot topic around here. As you can see from this sign in front of City Hall, Okinawa wants it to leave.

On one rainy day people of Ginowan formed a "human chain" around Futenma Base to show that they do not wish to have a base in their city. And as it turned out, they decided to move the base to the northern part of Okinawa.

普天間基地の問題は地元では激しさを増してきています。宜野湾市役所の建物には「県内に基地はいらない！」と横断幕が掛けられています。

大雨が降った5/16には普天間基地を取り囲む「人の鎖」が出来、県外移設を訴え、県民の意思を伝えていました。私たちの教会の前にも多くの人が雨の中、人の鎖を作っていました。

Genesis Class is Over! (創世記のクラス、終了！)

Genesis Class that Chuck was teaching this Spring Semester is officially over. Good job, guys! On the last day students took their final exam and then celebrated by eating ice cream!

今学期、チャックが教えていた創世記のクラスが無事終わりました！みんな、お疲れ様！！最終日は期末テストの後、みんなでアイスクリームを食べてお祝いしました（＾＾）ｖ

Spending time with Friends while in Tokyo (東京にいる間に友達に会ってきました)

While Yumi was back in Tokyo, she had a chance to spend time with a few friends. Though it was too short, it was great catching up with you all.

由美が東京にいる間、何人かの友達に会う機会があり、時間は短かったけれど、会えてよかった（＾＾）ｖ

Yumi met Steve and Michiyo while she was in Hungary. Since then, they moved to Sapporo (Michiyo's hometown) to start a Calvary Chapel.

Here is Yumi at the Japan Calvary Chapel Conference. This year, many of the speakers were pastors from America who came over to minister to the Japanese. Instead of staying at the conference center, Yumi traveled back to her parent's house.

ゴールデンウィーク中に行われた日本カルバリーチャペル・カンファレンスに参加するために由美は東京へ行ってきました。今年のスピーカーはアメリカから来日し、メッセージをしてくれました。今年はカンファレンスセンターに宿泊するのではなく、由美は二日間藤沢の実家から通いました。
