Volunteering with "Gekko Project" (月光プロジェクト ボランティア)

The Gekko Project is a team of seaweed farmers who gathered together shortly after the tsunami with the intention of restoring their seaweed business.  They invited volunteers from all over Japan to participate making nets used in harvesting seaweed.  Since they are our neighbors we assisted them when we could and got to know the guys better.  While Calvary Chapel Perris Valley was here, the group also was able to help out the Gekko Project.

私たちが住む東松島の月浜には2011年の震災の津波で大きな被害を受けた海苔養殖業の方々が生産再開に向けて共同生産グループ「月光」を 立ち上げました。再建を目指して全国から多くのボランティアの方々が毎週来ています。アメリカのチームが来た時もボランティアとして支援することが出来ました。
