Day 2: Ministry in Ishinomaki (2日目：石巻で救援支援)

Here is us with the Kawanami's (カワナミさんと)

Today we separated donated cold weather gear in to piles of men's, women's, and miscellaneous. From there we traveled about 1.5 hours from Sendai to Ishinomaki and separated into 3 separate groups.  Our first stop, we helped our Mr. and Mrs. Kawanami, an elderly couple who live close to the water.  The neighborhood was really bad.  I can't really describe how bad the devastation was.  Their house was badly damaged; we helped move some tatami mats to the street.  Even though they had so much damage to their home, they invited us in for tea.  It was very kind of them.  They told us all about the tsunami and its impact on their neighborhood -- only 9 survivors in their neighborhood.  Many people came back to their apartment for expensive personal effects and never made it.

Next we helped clear out trash at a danchi (subsidized apartment complex) and at a former catering business.  The Holy Spirit was the one who led us to these people.  Thanks to all those who are praying for us.  God certainly has led to many divine appointments.  Some of the people visited today were the 2nd or 3rd time that teams had visited them.  One of the goals is to develop lasting relationships with the people here.

今朝、先ず物資支援として持ってきた防寒具を男性物と女性物、その他に仕分けし、その後、仙台から1時間半程離れた石巻へと3チームに分かれて移動しました。到着後、先ず、海の近くに住んでいるお年寄りの夫婦のカワナミさんの手伝いをしました。彼らが住んでいた地域は殆ど全滅状態だそうです。その凄まじさは言葉では言い合わせません。カワナミさんの家は大きな被害を受けていて、家の中から畳を外へ出す作業を手伝いました。このように大きく被災したにも関わらず、作業が終わった後、カワナミご夫婦は私たちを家の中に招いて下さり、親切にもお茶まで出して下さいました。そして彼らから当日の津波の様子を聞いたり、この地域では9人のみの人しか生き残らなかったという話も聞きました。何でも、津波の被害にあった人たちは自分たちの私物を取りに自宅へ戻った結果、多くの人たちが津波にのまれたそうです。

次に石巻の団地と仕出し屋をしていたところへ行き、掃除の手伝いをしてきました。私たちが行くべきところや人たちのもとへと聖霊が導いてくれました。私たちのために祈って下さり本当にありがとうございます。今日、主が用意して下さった多くの人たちに出会うことが出来ました。実は、今日訪ねた人たちも前のチームが訪ねた同じ人たちで今回で2度目もしくは3度目の訪問だったそうです。。このようにしてその場限りの出会いではなく、この町に住む多くの人たちと長期に渡る関係が築けるようにお祈りください。
