Day 5: Back in Sapporo - Hitsujigaoka Observatory (さっぽろ羊ヶ丘展望台)

Sunday, April 24th.  Sunday was our first day back in Sapporo.  We'd been busy for a few days and since Easter service was at night, we took the morning off.  After a delicious lunch of Sapporo ramen, we went to Hitsujigaoka ("Sheep Hill").  It is a famous because of its statue of William Clark, an American who started what is now Hokkaido University in the years of the Meiji Restoration.  He used the Bible to teach ethics and made a significant impact on the students.

4/24（日）この日は夕方からイースター礼拝からなので、午前中は休息を取って、札幌ラーメンを食べた後、札幌の羊ヶ丘展望台へみんなで行ってきました。アメリカ人のウィリアム・クラーク博士の銅像があり、明治維新後、来日し、現北海道大学である札幌農学校を始めました。クリスチャンであったクラーク博士は学生たちに聖書も教え、大きな影響を与えました。
