 While Pastor Tom and the Bible college students were in Korea, we took the opportunity to drive to the northern most part of Okinawa for a Saturday of sightseeing.  Actually, we were doing a little research as well.  Hiji Falls is on the list of places for future retreats, so we stopped by and checked out the facilities.  We also stopped by Hedo Point, which is the northern point of Okinawa, and looked out to where the Pacific meets the South China Sea.

We finished off the evening at the famous Pizza in the Sky restaurant. It is on the top of a very large hill overlooking the NW coast of Okinawa -- a beautiful view.  The pizza is excellent but like most Japanese pizza is expensive.

トム牧師とバイブルカレッジの学生たちがアウトリーチで韓国へ行っている間、私たちは日帰りで沖縄本島の最北端にあたる辺戸岬までドライブに行ってきました。今回は教会のリトリート会場をリサーチすることも兼ねていて比地大滝も見てきました。その後、太平洋及び東シナ海に面する辺戸岬に寄って来ました。とても綺麗でした。

夕食は美味しいと評判の「ピザ喫茶　花人逢」でピザを食べてきました。テラスからは伊江島、瀬底島、水納島までが一望できる素晴らしい眺めでした。

Hakugaijin CD Release Tour (ハクガイジンCD発売ツアー)

"Hakugaijin" is Pastor Tim's band and they have just released their first CD. It is titled "Welcome to the Ai Land." (ai is the Japanese word for love.) The band consists of Pastor Tim, a few missionaries, Tim's wife, and Pastor Tom's daughter. They are going on a brief CD release tour at a few venues around the area, including next week's Worship Conference. We invited the MELT students to the concerts. Please pray for their upcoming shows.

「ハクガイジン」はティム牧師がリードするバンドで、4/30に待望の初のCD「Welcome to Ai-Land」を発売しました。バンドメンバーはティム牧師以外にCC宜野湾の宣教師たちとティム牧師の奥さんとトム牧師の娘さんです。沖縄でミニツアーを5/3～5/6まで行い、今夜から始まるワーシップカンファレンスでもコンサートを予定しています。MELTの学生たちにもチラシを配りました。彼らのコンサートのためにお祈り下さい。



MELT "My English Lunch Time" (MELT@琉球大学)

MELT (My English Lunch Time) is a college ministry at Ryukyu University started by Campus Crusade for Christ over 20 years ago.  CC Ginowan has been participating for the past 4-5 years. It is a free conversational English class at lunch time.  Most students bring their bentos (Japanese lunch box) to the class and eat as we talk.  The Japanese school year just started, so MELT is now in full swing.  It is a great time to meet and spend time with the students.  Most are Japanese, but there are a few Taiwanese and Korean exchange students.  We mix in a little Scripture with the conversation.

MELT (My English Lunch Time) はキャンパスクルセードが20年以上前に琉球大学で始めたキャンパスミニストリーで、CC宜野湾もここ4、5年程、このミニストリーに関わっているそうです。MELTは大学のお昼休み時間を利用して無料で英会話のクラスし、学生たちは食事をしながら参加しています。4月から新年度が始じまり、感謝にも毎週多くの学生が集まってきています。殆どの学生は日本人ですが台湾や韓国から日本語を勉強しに来ている学生も来ています。毎週、英会話クラスには聖書の言葉を取り入れています。

Easter Weekend (イースター/復活祭)

We had a great turnout for the Passion of the Christ movie. Afterwards, Pastor Tim explained the Gospel in detail (in Japanese) and we had a great time of fellowship afterwards.

The Lord blessed us with some great weather on Sunday morning for the Sunrise Service. Yumi translated Pastor Tom's message in John 20.

After the service, we gathered in the cafe for a pancake, rice, and miso soup, spam breakfast. Pastor Tim taught about the resurrection during the 10am service while we (Yumi and Chuck) hid Easter eggs for the kids. Sunday evening service was a little different -- we had a potluck dinner and watched a few minutes of the Gospel of John movie. Overall, it was a very blessed weekend. Thank you for your prayers.

お祈りありがとうございました。「パッション」の映画には多くの方々が集って下さいました。映画上映後、ティム牧師が詳しく分かりやすく福音を日本語で説明して下さいました。楽しい交わりその後持たれました。

復活祭の朝は天候に恵まれ、主は素晴らしい日の出イースター礼拝を持つことが出来ました。トム牧師のヨハネ20章からのメッセージを由美が通訳にて奉仕する機会が与えられ、日の出礼拝終了後は、皆でコイノニア・カフェに集まり、ホットケーキ、ご飯、味噌汁、スパムの朝食を食べました。10時からの通常の日曜礼拝ではティム牧師が復活のメッセージをし、私たち2人（チャックと由美）は子どもたちのイースターエッグの手伝いをしました。夕方の礼拝ではいつもとは少し違う試みで、夕食を食べた後に「Gospel of John - ヨハネの福音書」という映画を教会全体で見ました。

素晴らしいイースターの週末を過ごすことが出来ました。お祈りいつもありがとうございます。

The Lord blessed our trip to Tonaki Jima. We made the 2-hour ferry ride from the Okinawa mainland with a big group of Bible College students and missionaries. We held a two-day VBS for the Tonaki Jima kids. Lots of them came out and had a blast and understood the Gospel message. Several kids prayed to receive Christ as their Savior.

This was the second trip for the Bible College to Tonaki Jima. The ministry started when Andrew Neely and Yoshua took a step out in faith about a year ago and visited the island. By God's providence, they met Iruzu-San, the island's only Christian. Andrew has made about 6-7 trips to Tonaki since then to hold Bible studies and encourage Iruzu-San. He was very thankful that we came and said that he hopes we come back soon. Please pray for Iruzu-San. He has not had anyone to fellowship with in 9 years.

Also, Pastor Tom held a few Bible studies on the beach about the Holy Spirit. Yumi did most of the translating for the weekend. I had the pleasure of giving the devotion on Sunday morning.

We camped on one of the beaches on Tonaki Jima and had great weather until Sunday. And then the rain came. And came. We made it through the night, and the seas were calmer than expected on the ride home. After we arrived home, one of the missionaries received word that the church was approved to rent a house on Tonaki. This will be a big step towards starting a permanent ministry on the island. Thank you for your prayers.

お祈りありがとうございました。報告が遅くなりましたが、4/3-6まで、バイブルカレッジの学生たちと他の宣教師たちと一緒に沖縄本島からフェリーで約2時間行ったところにある渡名喜島という離島へ行ってきました。島の老人センターで子供たち向けにゲームや劇をやったりして祝福されたものとなりました。2日間にわたるイベントに20人以上の子供たちが集まり、感謝にも多くの子供たちが福音を理解し、イエスキリストを心へ受け入れる祈りをしました。

今回の渡名喜島へのアウトリーチはバイブルカレッジにとって2度目のものとなりました。この渡名喜島へ行くきっかけとなったのは、1年程前にカルバリーチャペル宜野湾の宣教師の1人であるアンドリューと地元の日本人クリスチャンであるヨシュアが共に信仰の一歩を踏み出したところから始まりました。誰も知らないこの島で主が何をされたいのか見せて頂くために信仰の一歩を踏み出したそうです。そして、そこで島人口約400人の唯一のクリスチャンであるユズルさんに主の不思議な導きで出会い全てが始まりました。それ以来、アンドリューはこの渡名喜島へユズルさんを励まし、聖書の学びを共にするために6回から7回程行っています。ユズルさんにとってこのようなクリスチャンの交わりと学びを出来ることはとてもまれなことで、またこのような機会を心待ちにしているそうです。常にクリスチャンの友人に囲まれていることはとても有難いことで、9年間このような交わりを持つことが出来なかったユズルさんをこれからも皆さんのお祈りに覚えて下さい。

このアウトリーチの間、浜辺ではトム牧師による聖霊の働きについてのバイブルスタディも持たれました。殆どのメッセージの通訳は由美が担当し、日曜日のデボーションはチャックが分かち合う機会が与えられました。

この3日間、砂浜でキャンプをすることになったのですが、日曜日のお昼過ぎに天候の変わりやすい沖縄の天候は「雨時々強風」へと変わり大変なこととなりました。。。日曜日の夜中まで雨と強風は続き、次の日のフェリーが風のため出向出来るか分からず、祈りながらひと夜過ごすことになりました。しかし感謝にも次の日、フェリーは出向し、沖縄本島に帰ってくることが出来ました。

帰ってきてその日に朗報があり、教会が渡名喜島で家が借りれることになったとのことです。これを機にこの島で益々この家を拠点として多くのミニストリーの機会が増えますように。お祈り感謝します。

Prayer Request (祈りのリクエスト)

We are showing the Passion of the Christ on Good Friday.  Please pray that we could get the word out and that the Holy Spirit would draw people to the film.  Please pray that they would be moved by the film and that we could show them the love of Christ.

今週の金曜日のグッドフライデー（受難日）の日に「パッション」の映画を教会で上映します。今週、教会の周りでこのチラシを配りました。多くの人がこのイベントに参加し、聖霊が豊かに働いて下さり、救いの魂が起されるようお祈り下さい。
