Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory (さっぽろ羊ヶ丘展望台)

Okay! Last stop on our way to the airport was the famous Hitsujigaoka. One of the famous pictures of Sapporo is of the statue of Dr. William Clark. He was an American who came to help at Sapporo Agricultural University for a few years in the 1800's. He was a Christian and had a big impact on the students. His famous encouraging line to students was, "Boys, be ambitious."

千歳空港へ行く前にトレバーと「さっぽろ羊ヶ丘展望台」へ行ってきました。ウィリアム・クラーク博士の銅像が丘の上に立っていました。１８００年代にアメリカから来て数年の間、札幌農学校（現北海道大学）で教壇を取っていました。クリスチャンであったクラーク博士は当時の学生に聖書も教え、大きな影響を与えました。そして、札幌農学校1期生との別れの際に、「少年よ、大志を抱け」とクラーク博士が言ったとされています。
