CC Perris Valley Youth (CCペリスバリー・ユース・ミッションチーム)

After Juliann, Mustafa, and Emi left, we had the youth group from Calvary Chapel Perris Valley, CA stay with us for two nights.  There were some familiar faces from when they volunteered last year (2011), so it was good to catch up.

ジュリアンさん、ムフタファ君と絵美ちゃんが帰った後、数日間、カリフォルニアのペリスバリーにあるカルバリーチャペルのユースグループが月浜に滞在しました。グループの中には2011年に私たちと一緒に東北でボランティアをした仲間もいました。

Korean Cooking Class (スペシャルお茶っこかふぇ＆バイブルタイム - 韓国料理)

Here's Juliann's Korean cooking class.  The ladies really enjoyed learning something foreign but yet not too difficult.  As you can see, Juliann did a great job making it a "hands on" experience.

English Class (英会話クラス)

Here's our English class for kids.  We were blessed to be able to teach in a community center in Ushiami.  If your curious what we're teaching, in the top picture we're at the "nose" phase of "head-shoulders-knees-and toes."  In the bottom photo, we're teaching "here" and "there."

牛網のコミュニティーセンターで英会話のクラスを開いたところ、沢山の人たちが参加してくれました。歌やゲームを取り入れて楽しいクラスになりました。

Juliann and Mustafa (ジュリアンさんとムスタファ君)

Here's with our guests: (L-R) Juliann Lee, her son Mustafa, and Emi.  Juliann and Mustafa visited and helped put on an outreach in Tsukihama.  Juliann, who is Korean, taught the ladies how to make an Americanized version of bulgogi. It was delicious.  And afterwards she shared her powerful testimony.  Emi used her vacatin time to come assist the outreach.  Thanks for coming.

カリフォルニアからジュリアンさんと息子さんのムスタファ君が月浜に来てくれました。韓国人のジュリアンさんは少しアメリカンナイズされている (?) プルコギの料理教室を開いて下さり、地元の参加者の方々にはとても好評でした。又、ジュリアンさんがどのようなきっかけでクリスチャンになったのかという話もして下さり、私もとても感動しました。この週は絵美ちゃんの手伝いもあり、とても素晴らしいアウトリーチが持てました。

Okinawa Reunion! (沖縄同窓会！)

Emi spent a short time with us here in Tsukihama.  We first met Emi at the Bible College in Okinawa.  She was here helping out with an outreach we did with the ladies in our neighborhood.

Tatsushiko was also in the area helping a missions' team from Perris Valley in California.  He also spent a year going to a local college in Okinawa as an exchange student and served at CC Ginowan.  It was a nice Okinawa reunion in Tohoku.

絵美ちゃんも月浜へ遊びに来てくれました。絵美ちゃんとは彼女が沖縄のバイブルカレッジで学んでいた時に出会いました。今回はアウトリーチの手伝いもしてくれてとても助かりました。

沖縄で１年間、国内留学していた達彦もアメリカから来たミッションチームの手伝いで東北に来ていて、ちょっとした沖縄同窓会でした。

Soul Surfer Special Viewing (ソウル・サーファー試写会)

This might be an old news to many of you who are in the States.  But yesterday, we went to see a special viewing of "Soul Surfer" at the movie theater in Ishinomaki.  It is coming out tomorrow here.  While Keegan was still here, we all applied for free tickets, and Keegan won.  But the special viewing for free ticket-holders was after Keegan left for Oki, so he graciously gave us his.  Thanks!  We both really enjoyed it and recommend the movie.  

It is based on the true story of up-and-coming female surfer Bethany Hamilton's shark attack and recovery.  Though she struggles with why the attack happened, she has faith in God's plan and went on to become a talented surfer and is a great witness for Christ.  

We also enjoyed the movie, because the leading actress' last name is Robb!

アメリカではもう既にDVDになっている映画ですが、「ソウル・サーファー」が6/9から日本で公開されます。それに先立って、私たちは昨日、石巻で行われたこの映画の試写会に行ってきました。実はこの試写会のチケットはキーゲンが当てたものだったのですが、彼が沖縄へ帰ってからのものだったので私たちがもらいました。キーゲンありがとう！前に一度見たことがあるのですが、今回もとても感動しました！みなさんも是非見て下さい。お勧めです！

この映画は13歳の天才サーファー、ベサニー・ハミルトンがある日サメに片腕を奪われてしまい、その後、彼女がどのようにしてそのハンデを乗り越えていったかという実話に基づいたお話です。ベサニーはなぜこのような事が自分の身に起きたのか悩み苦しみながらも、クリスチャンである彼女はこれも全て神さまの計画のうちで、彼女は神を信じ続け、片腕がないハンデを乗り越えてプロサーファーになり、キリストを証しする者となりました。

私たちがこの映画が好きなもう一つの理由はベサニー・ハミルトン役の女優の名前がロブ（アナソフィア・ロブ）だからです！

English Class (英会話教室)

This week we started a conversational English class in Okan, a neighborhood close to where we meet for our Bible study.  Teaching is pretty fun, and the kids are really cute.  Please pray that we (Yumi is my ALT!) would teach well and get to know the folks in Okan.

今週から、日曜日の朝、バイブルスタディをしている牛網学習等の近くの地区センターで念願の英会話教室を始めることが出来ました。大人から子供まで集まって来ています。私（由美）もチャックのアシスタントとして教えています。この教室を通して多くの方々と知り合いになれるようにお祈り下さい。

Keegan Returned to Okinawa (キーゲン沖縄へ)

Keegan has left the building!  Keegan felt the Lord leading him back to Okinawa to focus on his Japanese studies, and left on the first of June.  We greatly enjoyed the time we had with our friend and appreciate him leading worship at the Bible study and tea party.  Thanks bro!

手伝いに来てくれていたキーゲンが日本語の勉強をするために沖縄へ帰ることになりました。バイブるスタディやお茶っこかふぇで賛美をしてくれて本当にありがとう。当分の間は、アカペラで頑張ります！この2ヶ月色々ありがとう。

CCBC Graduation (バイブルカレッジ卒業式）

Here are a few pictures of the CCBC graduation.  This year, the first half of the semester was in Okinawa and the second half in Tokyo.  The graduation ceremony was held at CC West Tokyo.  It was great to see old friends and see our friends graduate.  Congratulations, Aya, Chala, and Yuko!

CCBCの卒業式に行ってきました。今学期からはじめの15週間を沖縄キャンパスで過ごし、残りの15週間を東京で過ごすカリキュラムに変わり、卒業式も山東牧師のカルバリーチャペル西東京で行われました。卒業生の彩ちゃん、ちゃらさん、ゆうこおめでとう。2年間お疲れ様でした。
