Day 8: Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu (聖ペテロ教会)

Thursday 7/8 - After having breakfast at our hotel, we walked to Mt. Zion and visited the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. According to tradition, this was the place of the palace of high priest Caiaphas, where Jesus was brought to jail after his arrest. Its name (Gallicantu, means the cock's crow) is given after the story of Peters triple denial of Christ and the cock crowing twice (from Biblewalks.com).

7/8（木曜日） - この日はホテルで朝食を済ませた後、シオンの山へ歩って行き、聖ペテロ教会を訪ねていました。伝統によると、この場所はイエスが捕えられて連れてこられた、大祭司のカヤパの宮殿だと信じられているそうです。パテロがイエスを3度知らないと言ったことから、「鶏鳴教会」とも呼ばれるそうです。
