Ikuko Came for a Visit (育子ちゃん遊びに来てくれました)

While Chuck is in Isarel...

Ikuko came to visit me here in Okinawa. Ikuko and I used to go to the same church in Kamakura. Today we spent the afternoon together in the Itoman area, visiting the Peace Memorial Park. As always, it was very educational, and we definitely learned more about Okinawa. As you might know, so much has happened on this little island the past 65 years.

We also stopped at a nice restaurant nearby to eat lunch. This restaurant was at a family's house, and we had a good Okinawan home-cooked meal. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and the food was excellent! The lady even shared her recipe with us :-)

チャックがイスラエルに行っている間に。。。

鎌倉の教会で一緒だった育子ちゃんが遊びに来てくれました。今日は糸満にある平和祈念公園へ行って、とても勉強になりました。沖縄の歴史を学ぶ中で、ここ過去65年の間、沖縄県民が通ってきた凄まじさを再度、目のあたりにしました。

帰りには近くのレストランに寄って昼食を食べました。行ったレストランはオーナーの自宅を開放していて、昭和時代のレトロな中で美味しい沖縄料理を食べてきました。オーナーの女性にはレシピまで教えてもらいました。
