Day 6: Masada: Mountain Fortress (6日目：マサダ砦)

Monday 7/5 - Masada was the site of the last stand of the Jewish nation before it succumbed to Roman rule. It was built by Herod the Great right next to the Dead Sea. Researchers have preserved and partially restored much of the original walls, rooms, cisterns, and palace chambers on top of the mountain. There is a cableway car that takes guests to the top. Rob, Zach, and I chose to hike up the "snake trail" to the top. It was beastly hot out there, but we made it to the top. It was a fantastic view from the top. It made me want to see the 1981 film "Masada" that retells the story of Israel's last stand.

7/5（月曜日） - 西暦一世紀にユダヤ人がローマ軍によって滅ぼされた場所がここマサダ砦でした。マサダは死海のほとりにヘロデ大王によって建てられました。研究者たちは山の頂上に位置するこの遺跡を保存し、その当時から残る、壁、地下貯水池、宮廷の部屋など、多くのもの修復してきました。また、マサダの頂上へ上るための観光用のケーブルカーがあったけれど、ロブとザックと一緒に頂上までハイキングすることにしました。この日はとても暑い日でしたが、頂上まで無事登れました（＾＾）ｖ 頂上の眺めは最高で、1981年に公開された「マサダ」という映画が見たくなりました。
