Day 6: SP Work Day in Minami-Sanriku (6

We prayed before starting to work each day

Helped clean this retirement home

With Haga-san who survived the tsunami and recently became a Christian

Shizukawa Highschool (志津川高校)

There was a cafe at the high school where a Catholic volunteer group was running

We shifted our work place from Watanoha to Minami-Sanriku on Day 6.  Minami-Sanriku was devastated by the tsunami.  Our task for the day: help clean out and power wash a retirement home.  Even though the home was on a hill and a few kilometers from the water, it was still flooded and many of the residents died.  One of the employees, Haga-san is still around and has recently become a Christian through the work of Samaritan's Purse.  Praise the Lord!

What an inspiring update Yumi!! Praise the Lord for all of you and the work you are doing! I couldn't help but think how precious one life is to Jesus-the man in the picture who survived the Tsunami and became a Christian! Wow!! That is awesome!!

Hi Jim and Margie. Thank you for commenting. Yes. We were blessed to be serving the Lord there. He is doing so much! Did you know that in the history of the city of Minami-Sanriku, there has not been a church there yet? We were told some people have tried and are still faithfully serving, but before the disaster, sadly, there has not been much visible fruit. But we know that the work that is done in the name of the Lord is never in vain. Please pray for this gentleman that he will seek after fellowship and Christians will follow up with him.
